Garden Hack of the Month: Washing Fresh Produce

October 13, 2017

If you have a vegetable garden, you can probably imagine how much water you use to not only water your plants, but then wash all your fresh produce. But, this month’s Garden Hack might just change the way you do both.

You only need 3 things for this:

  • a large colander or laundry basket with holes
  • a large bucket
  • a hose.

It’s an easy enough setup. Set into or hold the colander over your bucket and add in your fresh picked produce. Spray down your produce (and scrub if needed) to get any dirt off. When you’re done washing your veggies, set your produce to the side and reuse the water from washing to water your plants. Easy as that! You could even do this with produce from the store, as well.

Now you don’t have to waste any water by washing them inside. And you don’t have to worry about getting your kitchen counters dirty!
